二零一六年十月，覺得最有趣的就是製作這本小冊攝影書。這只是一本實驗性的dummy，雖然如此我竟然也很用心去編排一下。照片是Kenny帶我去拍的九皇大帝遊行的現場。老實說我長這樣大，第一次看九皇大帝遊行，感覺有點像華人的大寶森節。我覺得我照片拍得還好而已，而且數量少之又少，但沒想到排出來，還算不錯。由於小冊書的設計，編排起來，還真的有加強照片的詮釋度，且讓我老王賣瓜一下。


October 2016, things that gives me the most excitement, was making this small little photo book. Although it was just an experimental dummy, but I did put effort into work out the flow of the photos. Photographs was taken during 9th Emperor Festival, Kenny bring me to see this incredible parade. Seriously, this was the first time I ever experience the 9th Emperor festival's parade, it is like a chinese version of Thaipusam to me. I felt that my photographs okayest only, and the quantity is quite little, but I was surprise how it turns out when I put them into this small little book. Due to the good design of this little book, it somehow enhance the visual experience of the photographs, please do tolerate of myself praise here.










我翻了又翻，還真的非常喜歡這小冊攝影集。雖然尺寸比火柴盒大一點點而已，但完全不會影響看照片的樂趣。但如果這個設計，製成大本一點也還是不錯。

我最近一直在想，我比較喜歡製造書，還是其實比較喜歡製作自己的攝影集？意思就是說，我到底是喜歡讓自己的照片讓人看到，還是我比較喜歡讓人看到我製作的書，就算作品是別人的也無所謂嗎？老實說，我還真的斟酌了很久。一開始，我認為我其實比較喜歡讓人看到自己的照片才製作自己的攝影集的。但經過一些日子後，我開始有了不同的體會。當我把攝影集弄出來之後，我會一直去翻閱它，那是因為照片的關係嗎？還是那書的質感？那書的設計？那書所給予視覺效果呢？經過了這些日子，我發現我比較喜歡攝影書給我的視覺效果，當然照片也是視覺效果的一個重要的部分。但如果編排得有趣，加上書設計，是可以加強照片的詮釋度的。

照片、編排、書的質感、設計、故事性、綜合這一切後已得到的平衡，才成就一本攝影集。攝影集，並不只是讓你看到照片而已那麼簡單的。我開始慢慢去體會這些事了，因此也得到了喜悅。

這算是我這個月最有營養的發現與收成了。

I already flipped it for couples of time, I really like this little dummy photo book. Although the size is just about the size of the matchbox, but it doesn't affects the fun of looking at the photographs. This book design also suitable to apply for bigger sized book too I guess.

By the way, I kept questioning myself recently, the reason I love doing photo book, is because I love to present my photography works, or because I love doing books? Even though the photography works was not mine, do I still love doing it? I seriously keep questioning myself recently. I really need to make sure by myself. Initially, I thought because I love letting people seeing my photography works, therefore I do a book to distribute. But days by days, I started to perceive differently. When I done making a book, I enjoy flipping them always. It is because that contains my photography works? Or because of the book's texture? the book's design? or the visual experience that the book delivers? Though all these days, I realized the reason I love the book, because it gives me the great sense of visual experience, ofcoz photographs makes a big part of it. But I believe, with a creative arrangement and design, it do adds a lots of marks.

This was what I've learnt within this month.
